Down and Out!

Our family is need of prayers again! Joel and I were playing volleyball lastnight and he ruptured his Achilles tendon. He is supposed to have surgery Thursday to repair it. It should be an easy repair since the tendon is still connected to the bone, but it will still be a 4-6 week recovery time.
Please pray that the surgery goes well. Please pray that the recovery is fast and easy. Please pray that our family handles this added stress well. Please pray that Joel does not go out of his mind! (He is NOT one to sit around and take it easy at all!) Please pray that Joel will be able to get back to work very soon! Just pray! THANK YOU!
Just last week I was worrying about, what would happen if something were to happen to me? Last night as we were driving to urgent care, I said, "I'm just glad this happened to you and not me!" Aren't I such a supportive wife?! :) But, seriously, I really don't know what would happen if I weren't able to care for Gavin. So, although this will be tough on our family, especially Joel, I am thankful that it wasn't me and I'm thankful that it wasn't something worse!
Now, to find something for Joel to do...?.....?...before he rips that splint off and starts gardening or something! I think I'll have my hands full trying to keep this one down! Let me know if you have any ideas!
"Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:11

Oh Alicia!!!! You guys will definately be in our prayers!!! I think Joel will have to take up reading this summer!! Plan on me bringing a meal to you this week and I can take the boys on Friday!!
I'll call you later to arrange something!!
PS I'm glad it wasn't you either!!
PSS along the lines of Supportive Wives.....some time ago Dan needed to go to ER and get stitches...His foot was bleeding and I needed to grab a towel or two...so I had to dig to find the not so nice towels and then I grabbed my book since I knew he'd be there for a while....hehehe.

Nicole,

Well, at least I'm not the only unsupportive wife, thanks for sharing! :)

I should have skipped v-ball last night and gone to your party instead! How did it go?

As for watching the boys, Thanks!, but unless Joel has to stay in the hospital for some reason, we will be fine. We do need to get the boys together soon, though!

Love ya, Alicia

I couldn't believe it when I got the prayer e-mail from church. I kind of hoped they had the wrong guy!

Does Joel like reading? Have you guys tried Netflix? It's awesome--just check out their Website. They deliver DVDs in the mail, and there are no late fees. And they have everything--recent releases, TV series, documentaries--whatever!

And, like everything (you know this already), God has a purpose for this too.

Oh no!! Poor Joel! :o( That picture breaks my heart; I'm NOT used to seeing Joel laying down in pain! Really, I don't know if I've ever seen Joel lay down on the couch in the 15 years I've knowing him... Ha! ;o)

He WILL be ok, because he's strong not only physically, but emotionally. Think of this as a time for you and him to grow even closer, and for him to spend some quality at-home time with the boys, teaching them things that can't be demonstrated by DOING...as everything has already proved, there will be a blessing in disquise from this situation, so just be patient until you can see it.

Please let us know if we can help with anything! As always, our home is open for the big boys to visit (we can even pick them up!) if Joel needs some quiet time, so let us know!

Love you all. We will be praying...

xoxo Amy & Mark

Alicia,

God wont give you more that you can handle!! I know what it is like to be at the end of my rope thinking one more thing will sink me but I always make it and you will too!! Tell Joel we hope he gets better soon and we hope everything goes well. It is no fun being in a cast in the summer. Been there and done that---Netflix is great!!! Reading!!! If I think of anything else I will let you know. We wish you all the best!!!

Love ya lots-
April

Amy and Mark,

Thanks! Why don't you come and get the boys right now! They are all running around with LOTS of energy! :) We'll be fine and we know that this too shall pass.

Love ya, Alicia

Hiltons,

Thank you! How did the rest of the volleyball game go? Hopefully you guys were able to finish the game without us and show them who's boss!

Alicia and Family

April,

Thanks! We know our ship won't sink, that's for sure! Although, it doesn't seem to be moving anywhere either! :) God will get us through! Thanks for your support!
