Things that I can't believe I actually said this week:

This week I have found myself saying some crazy things!

Here are a few of them:

1.) "I'm thinking of letting you guys have a week to do whatever you want to do."

This is something that I said to our children! It sounded like a good idea at the time, but now I'm rethinking my thoughts! I thought that if I gave then almost total control of themselves, then maybe they would see that there is a reason why we tell them "NO" sometimes. I figured that if they got to stay up late and eat lots of junk food, then maybe they would learn a lesson from it. They are excited about this challenge and now, I'm not!

2.) "If you don't hurry up, I'm not even going to let you go to school today!"

This was said to one of our children who is VERY SLOW in getting ready for school, but who LOVES to go to school. It sounded funny once it came out of my mouth, but it actually ended up working!

3.) "If you don't stop goofing off and stop distracting your brother, I'm not going to let you study and finish your homework!"

This was said to the same child, who LOVES to study and do homework, but who likes to goof off and distract his older brother while he too is doing his homework. Again, this crazy proclamation ended up working in the end.....he finally stopped goofing off!

4.) "Gavin, would you please stop moving around and grabbing at your tube?!"

This was obviously said to Gavin, while I was changing a VERY dirty diaper! I really could have used an extra set of hands for this one and I was getting quite frustruated! But, I never thought that I would want Gavin to not move! Usually, I am praying for the opposite with him!

And, the last one is one that my Mom might kill me for putting on here, but it is something that I never thought that I would say to my Mom, and that I find very funny right now, just thinking that it actually came out of my mouth.

5.) "Mom, you better not pee on me!"

I said this when I was helping to boost my Mom up to reach something. She was on a chair, but couldn't quite reach what she was trying to get. So, I gave her a boost. We were laughing our heads off at the time and she had just said that she needed to use the restroom, so I became a little worried since I was underneathe her! It sure was great to laugh that hard though! Thanks Mom for the laugh and the fun day! LOVE YOU!!!

Do you ever say things that you can't believe actually came out of your mouth?

Also, just a reminder that we are trying to raise money for the Buddy Walk, which is this Saturday. This benefits the Down Syndrome Association. If you wish to make a donation, click the button at the top-lefthand side of this blog. Thanks for your consideration! And, THANKS SO MUCH TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE ALREADY DONATED!!!!! We are almost half way to our goal! THANKYOU!!!

Also, if any of you are planning to walk with us, please e-mail me at javanderwall@yahoo.com or comment on this blog to let me know if you are able to make it. We are hoping to have a party afterwards at our house, for family, to celebrate Gavin's birthday. We were hoping to have it at the park, but it's supposed to be chilly outside, so if not too many are coming to the walk, we thought that we might be able to have everyone come over for lunch and to celebrate. So, I need to know how many are planning to go to the walk. Thanks!

LOVE the mom comment - that one made me giggle. (because I could have pictured that whole scenario with MY mom) I can't think of anything off the top of my head...but believe me, I've said LOTS. ;)

Sometimes me and my mom get laughing so hard that I think I'm going to pee my pants to. We all do it :)

First, your kiddo who loves school, studying and homework cracks me up!! That is great!

Second, the comment about your mom had me doubled over with laughter!! I can so totally see me saying that to my mom too. Hilarious!!

Jeremy and I always joke about how if someone just recorded little bits of our daily conversations and other things that come out of our mouths, they would think we are completely insane! ; )

Great post! It definitely put a smile on my face tonight. Thanks for sharing. I too have said things to Isabelle that after I have said them I thought, what are you saying a year ago I wasn't even sure she could do it and now she is and I'm telling her to stop? Must just be a natural mom comment to make. Hoping your walk was good.

Oh my gosh, those all brightened my day. I totally could hear you telling your mom not to pee on you.
